I found this post to be really interesting and also very true. I have noticed this over and over in the body of Christ. People don't realize, (and I'm sometimes guilty of this), that successful Christian living can only come from constant prayer, being in God's presence, fasting, etc.

Going from event to event, in terms of allowing that to be the only time that you REALLY seek God's face will never be enough to sustain you through everyday life. But to further the event to event mentality that a lot of Christians have, I will go further to state, that this might be one of the primary reasons people constantly church hop. They go from one church to the next trying to see where the highest manifestation of God's glory is every Sunday. In some cases there won't be anything wrong with the "church" that they visited but it just isn't "deep" enough for them or its not "prophetic" enough for them. This mentality reminds me of the story in the bible where there was a invalid man who couldn't walk, move, etc. He would wait by the pool for it to be "stirred" but would never make it in.

The point is, the event-driven Christian waits for the event to be "stirred". This, I believe, comes from a lack of teaching. Clear understanding is lacking. It's not taught nowadays that everyday we should truly be seeking and expecting to go higher or deeper. As I finished reading this I prayed for God to forgive me, if at any time I was an event-driven Christian. This was very powerful and thought provoking. I'm going to preach this. LOL - Just kidding - I'm not one of the UNSENT leaders. LOL)

Michaela,

Thanks for reading and replying. Truly, I enjoyed your response and did laugh out loud when you mocked the unsent leader's typical response.

I want to add this: Those who God has chosen and made know who they are and therefore are the ones who do the stirring versus waiting for an event to stir things up in their spiritual life. They come bearing gifts (i.e., the spiritual goods, coupled with Godly character, miracles, power, signs and wonders). They do the stirring as God keeps them stirred as they commune with Him.

With grace, wisdom, and glory
