Who is this King of glory? – Part II

מיהו המלך של גלורי?  לורד של Hosts הוא המלך של גלורי.

The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.  Selah. – Psalm 24:10 KJV

Yesterday, we laid the foundation by explaining that the King of glory is a person.  We also established that many leaders in ministry have the wrong perspective about receiving God’s glory, respect, riches, and dignity.  Today, we unveil God’s heart and mind in order to manifest His glory to you.

God wants us to be secure in the glory He has given us.  Let’s look at Solomon.  In second Chronicles, he asked God for wisdom and knowledge to rule His great people.  Now how Elohim (God) responded to His prayer request holds a glorious gem for us.

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like. – 2 Chronicles 1:11-12 KJV

The Hebrew word for honour here is kabowd (pronounced kä·bode‘) and it means glory.  Elohim (God) was telling Solomon through His reply that He’d give Him glory because He asked for something to glorify His Kingdom, the King of Glory and not himself, his man-made kingdom.

Solomon wasn’t looking for material things or buildings to glorify him, but something to glorify Elohim (God).  See when we as leaders possess the wisdom to judge and rule the people He assigned our hands, it brings Elohim (God) glory.  We see that Solomon’s heart was pure.  So, we come full circle back to clean hands and a pure heart as a requirement to manifest and receive glory.

What is absolutely amazing about this to me is that seven chapters later, Elohim (God) delivers.  When Solomon prayed and dedicated the temple, fire came down from heaven, consumed the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the house.  No one, not even the priests, could enter the temple because of the glory that filled the house.  Elohim (God) granted Solomon’s request for wisdom to rule His people and gave Him glory too.

Leaders, we need both (wisdom and glory) to rule.  How can we meet the needs of people without them?  Wisdom isn’t enough. We need the glory too.  Wisdom precedes the inheritance of glory.  How can you handle glory without wisdom?  Would Elohim (God) give His glory to an unwise man or woman?  Of course, He wouldn’t!  He is just and righteous in all His ways.  He is all knowing and sovereign.

I believe we may have discovered the power of three – wisdom, glory, and just rule.  As leaders, we must have all three of these attributes in order to rule righteously.  What is a righteous rule?  The scriptures reveal that Elohim (God) is the just King because he frees and rewards the righteous and punishes the wicked.  So must we in order to rule righteously.

The other beautiful thing here is that some of the other Hebrew meanings for kabowd (pronounced kä·bode’) are abundance, riches, and splendor.  Solomon received what he didn’t ask God for.

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. – Matthew 6:29

In conclusion, God’s divine order and His heart’s intent is that your hearts be pure, that you possess wisdom, rule justly, and then He will manifest His glory to you and through you.

Resting gloriously in Him,
